What is a Lash Lift?
Lashes already have a natural shape to them, but some are grown out rather than up and don’t give the length most of us want. A lash lift is almost like getting a perm for your lashes. The lift curls the natural lash from base to tip so that you can see the full length. This is done by a licensed professional with a curling rod and a lifting solution. Your eyes will be closed the entire time as there are some chemicals involved.
How Does It Work During Your Appointment?
Before you start your appointment you will have a consultation. Each person has their own unique eyelashes, so your professional is going to want to talk about the shape and length of your lashes. It also will depend on what the end result you want to have.
You will then be laid down on a bed, like you would getting a wax. Your professional will first clean your lashes to get the best possible results. Then they will place silicone or eye pads on your closed eyelids, to protect the sensitive under-eye skin.
Your licensed professional will then have chosen the correct rod size for the volume and length you chose during your consultation. They will then place a glue on the rod, so that your eyelids stick and keep them from shifting during the service. Then your lashes will be glued to the rod with an adhesive.
Once your licensed professional has secured your lashes to the rod, they will use a micro brush to apply a lash lift lotion. This is only applied to the midsection of your lashes and then left to process. After the process time is complete, the lotion is removed. A set lotion is then applied to your lashes the same way and processed. Once the set lotion is done processing, it is also removed.
Depending on who is performing the lash lift, your professional will then apply a lash nourishing lotion all over the lashes. They will also take the rod from your lashes by gently getting under the lashes with a micro brush. Once your lashes have been fully removed from the rod, they will clean your lashes again to make sure there is no glue left over and your skin is clean. You are now ready to open your eyes and take a look at your new lashes. Make sure they look flawless before you leave.
Here are some common questions you might have with a lash lift.
Will a lash lift damage your lashes?
If your lash lift service is done properly, they will not be damaging your lashes. By the end of your lash lift, you will look stunning and it will make you want to take care of your lashes more than usual. Ask your professional lash lift personnel how to take care of your lashes.
How long will the lash lift last?
Once you have a lash lift, the end result will last about six to eight weeks. Once you notice your lashes falling to their normal state, whether that may be outward or crossing over to the sides, you can schedule another lash lift with your licensed lash professional.
Can you use mascara on top of your lash lift?
You most definitely can use mascara after 48 hours from your lash lift appointment. Make sure your mascara is not waterproof. Waterproof mascara dehydrates the lashes in order for it to stay on, which will cause damage to your lashes.
How do you maintain your lash lift?
The first 48 hours after your lash lift is the most crucial to maintaining your lashes. You should avoid water including heavy exercising and showering as well as mascara. Anything that can cause water to reach your lashes, you should avoid. You also need to brush your lashes out every morning and evening before applying a lash serum. You can also use coconut oil.
