What Is A Micropen?
A micropen is an automated micro-needle used to improve the appearance of facial scars, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and overall skin appearance. The pen is composed of tiny needles that are used to create controlled reactions to stimulate more collagen in the skin. Unlike the micro-needling roller, this device moves in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. The repair process of the skin is a result of improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles.
Does It Hurt?
Patients have described the micropen to be extremely minimal. Some areas might be a bit more sensitive than others, and the intensity of the needle will affect how much discomfort you experience. Your doctor will usually offer a numbing cream to withstand the discomfort.
What Is The Procedure?
A licensed specialist will first do a consultation with you to make sure this is what you need. This is done either prior to your appointment or the same day, depending on your specialist. They will ask you about what sort of skin ailments you are experiencing and what results you are seeking. Once you have a treatment plan with your specialist, they will give you the option of the numbing cream. You don’t have to have the cream but it does help with some discomfort in sensitive areas. If you do have the numbing cream, it will be completely painless and might tickle. Your professional will then apply a layer of topical gel to the area you are wanting to get treated and select the intensity setting that correlates to the needles. With the Eclipse Micropen, it will contain 12 tiny needles on the sterile needle tip. In one motion, your specialist will gently press against the skin and glide in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. This process will usually take about 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.
What Happens After The Procedure?
After your specialist has completed the treatment with the Eclipse Micropen, you might notice bright redness to the skin, kind of like a sunburn. Don’t worry this is totally normal and will go away. The amount of time the redness goes away will depend on your skin, but some patients say it takes 2 to 4 days to heal. Your specialist might offer you some skincare products to speed up the healing process.
After your skin has healed, you will notice a glow and visible improvements that become more apparent as more time goes on. Results will continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues. It is recommended that you receive a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced out in 6 to 8 weeks apart. With deep wrinkles, it’s recommended to receive 6 to 8 sessions at a 6 week interval.
